Buttermilk Falls

The last day of school is when our first GORGEOUS, sunny, 70s day hit, so we HAD to be outside. As soon as Darin got home from campus we packed up a little picnic and made our way down to Buttermilk Falls State Park. Shae fell asleep in the car on our way there (that late afternoon nap, inevitable, but such a killer to his attitude). We let him sleep in the back while we munched on some food.

She is OBSESSED with grapes.

After we were done eating we went ahead and woke him up and he was just a mess the entire hike up. Plus he got sunscreen in his eye, so things were just rough in general.

Poor kid. Daddy was quite the trooper with him fussing in his ear all the way up.

At the bridge we let the kids down to explore for a bit.

It is so hard to get a good picture of this lady these days...

...she usually turns and runs as soon as I pull the camera out.

Doesn't stop me from trying.

Smiles for fruit snacks.

We let Shae walk on the way back down which meant that Belén got a turn in the big seat.

Buttermilk Falls was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I can't believe we haven't done this hike yet. The Gorge Trail was really amazing. The gorges were stunning. Can't wait to go back some day without the kids to hike even farther up.

The kids favorite part was definitely the after hike ice cream. (Although Shae was still pretty out of it. That nap. It really messed with him).
