Day 3 was a busy one. Lots of walking, lots of stairs, and so much hot hot sunshine, but we saw some pretty amazing things and learned about the Harbor Ferry which was just delightful, and SO much better than more hot and sweaty walking.
Started things off right with a little subway selfie.
The kids talk about Boston all the time and are always using blocks and train tracks to create their own subway system through our living room, always announcing, "This is the Orange Line" or "This is the Blue Line train, on the way to Kennedy station."
Our first stop was Faneuil Hall where the kids picked up their junior ranger booklets and got to work.
We followed the Freedom Trail back to the Paul Revere house to get the books stamped.
Where we all chipped in some thoughts on what liberty means to us while Darin and Ibu wrote down the kids answers in their booklets.
Then on to the Old North Church.
Walked around Copp's Hill Burying Ground.
Then stopped for a quick lunch on our long walk to Bunker Hill.
It was quite the hot day to choose to climb all 294 steps to the top, but we did it!
Glad we did, the view was beautiful.
We were all pretty tired after our Bunker Hill climbing, and decided to take the Harbor Ferry back in (so glad that a nice man told us about it earlier in the day! If only we had known that our subway passes worked to get on the ferry before our final day in Boston).
"A tug boat!!"
Before grabbing dinner we stopped at a splash pad and let the kids cool off.
Belén didn't love it, but this kid sure did.
Even though it was madness and he got tripped a time or two.
Also before dinner, quick stop to Union Square Donuts. We know our priorities when it comes to city eating. The donuts were just alright. Left me wanting more J.P. Licks Ice Cream really.
And then we went back to the hotel and craaaaaashed.
