Aquarium Day and Fireworks

As I was uploading these pictures of our final day in Boston, I realized that I lost track of which day we went up to the Charlestown Navy Yard. I was thinking it was our last day, but as I was looking through the pictures I realized we went to the Aquarium on our last day, and we were wearing different clothes, so possibly Tuesday? Not that it matters, I was just so confused!

At some point on our trip we went to the Charlestown Navy Yard where we got to see the USS Cassin Young, the USS Constitution, and we also got to visit the USS Constitution museum.

The kids were cracking me up as they ran around the USS Cassin Young (which was used in World War II) yelling, "The red coats are coming, the red coats are coming!"

It was a bit more appropriate for them to run around warning people of the red coats on the USS Constitution.

We didn't spend too much time at the museum as it was the end of the day and we were exhausted and it was going to close, but it had a lot of really fun interactive things for kids.

All dolled up for the Fourth on our way to the Aquarium.

After the Aquarium, the kids turned in their junior ranger booklets and had their special ceremony to become Junior Rangers. It was super cute and much more official than I thought it would be. They are pretty committed to taking care of the earth now as they run around finding trash outside and saying, "We have to throw this away, we are Junior Rangers!"

After the Aquarium, we went home to have the kids take naps since we were out late the night before and would be out late again for fireworks. Darin worked his daddy magic and made this happen:
He really does have some magic powers that I do not have.

Our hotel was in a great spot for the fireworks, just a short walk away from the Charles river. We walked down and squeezed in in a spot that we hoped would let us see the fireworks nicely (it was PACKED). As soon as the fireworks started we realized we did not pick a good location as there were trees just about fully blocking the fireworks. Us, and LOTS of other people ran over to a new location and we all squeezed together to watch them. It was an awesome firework show, despite the standing squishiness. Such a cool thing to experience right there in Boston.

Poor girl was so tired, and I think a little scared of the fireworks. She "watched" the fireworks curled in to daddy's shoulder.

We love love loved Boston. So grateful that we got to experience it with Sharon and Amelia. We sure love them a lot! Here's to hoping we get to go back someday.
