Darin's mom and sister were kind enough to let us crash their annual summer girl's trip for a few days in Boston last month. We took advantage of being outside of NY and found a Chik-fil-a to eat at on our drive in to Massachusetts.
We got in to the hotel just in time for bed for everyone except for Darin who went to the airport around midnight to pick up the west coast ladies.
The next day we went to the Children's Museum and got our first glimpses of Boston (and took our first trip on the T--the Boston subway. I'm sure the kids would want this to be noted as it was one of their favorite parts of the trip).
We walked past the Boston Tea Party ships on our way to the museum and later even saw some people throwing tea into the harbor.
The kids, clearly, had a blast at the museum.
This girl was obsessed with the pretend school bus in the "school" section of the museum. She stayed in there for quite some time.
After the museum we made our way to the North End (Little Italy). We found a playground that we, of course, had to stop and play at for a few minutes. I can't get over how cool it is to see things like playgrounds and splash pads pop up in the middle of a big city.
We had read up on Paul Revere, so the kids were very excited to see his home.
We made, quite possibly, one of the best decisions of our lives to go to Regina Pizza for dinner. It was amazing.
Apparently a line is quite common outside of the restaurant.
Next stop was of course: More food. Cannolis! To be precise. There were so many bakeries! We stopped in to Bova's and Mike's Pastry.
We walked through the Holocaust memorial on our way back to the hotel. It was heartbreaking, but a very well done memorial.
This quote stood out to me in particular.
Then it was back to the subway.
After the kids were in bed we finished off the evening with a cannoli tasting party. Sadly, they were a bit of a disappointment. I really should have just gotten an original cannoli, but the 23 different flavors were so enticing! What was I thinking getting a peanut butter cannoli? The Creme Brulee was our favorite.
