August Little Things

 Sunday stroll through the woods.

Second month in a row where it has been rainy for my date night with a kid. Shae and I made the most of it by putting the seats down in the van and filling it with cozy blankets and pillows. We grabbed donuts and then read the first book in one of his recent favorite book series, Press Start.
A few stuffies joined us, obviously.
Saturday spent at Seneca Lake State Park. We were really surprised that the splash pad was actually open, as any other splash pads in the area were closed this summer. The capacity was limited, yet I still felt anxious wondering if we should be there (my thoughts anytime we go anywhere at the moment). With that said, the kids had a blast and it was a nice way to wrap up summer.
Half birthday waffles for the 7.5 year old.

Church primary lesson about staying steady on the course. Dad showed us his "steady skills" by sitting through my entire lesson like this.
They asked us to take a selfie of ourselves at New Student Orientation...so I did.
The daddy rocket ship blasting off for yet another bedtime.
Belén did the moneky bars all by herself for the first time.
She also got her kindergarten shots. She's just growing right up. (Shae hopped up on the counter and sweetly said, "I'll sit with you Belén. Then the nurse pulled out the shot and he hopped right down and said, uhhhh, nevermind. Points for trying).
Summer days of chalk and water table with Lego people and lunch driveway picnics.
Lego Master, Self edition.

We were so happy that we got to be a part of Liam's baby blessing.
We checked out another new-to-us State Park and we really loved this one (Chenango Valley State Park). It's hard to find beachy places in Ithaca that have good sand (most have rock). This one had great sand to play in and the swimming area of the lake had been dug out, there was cement put down and sand over it. Very well maintained and it had a deep area where the kids were able to jump in.
Belén was adamant that this happen.
Darin didn't mind using the time to get a little power nap in.

Loving all these little ice cream shops we find on our way home from our State Park visits.
