We've entered the stage of almost impossible picture taking. Where you put them down and they immediately want to be on the move. They don't look at you. They've got better things to be doing.
Pretty amazed that I was still able to button up this 0-3 month dress on her...
Belén was just about sitting at 6 months, but now she is totally 100% sitting. (Although she doesn't sit long because she is also 100% crawling). She really enjoys sitting in the bathtub and splashing water. She prefers the splashing over playing with any bath toys.
So happy to be on the move! Time to watch what we leave on the floor more carefully. She is already drawn directly to any chords that aren't fully hidden. And it starts.
She's starting to learn that if she ever wants to play with anything around here that she has to fight for it. (She also LOVES that stuffed dog in the corner of the picture. She gets all kinds of squealy and giggly when she sees it in front of her. Then she grabs it and wrestles around with it for a few minutes).
She has started to voice her opinions a bit more strongly about Shae laying on her and riding her while she crawls. It would appear that she is not a fan. With that said, she really loves this brother of hers. She crawls right over to him when they are on the floor together (even though it means torture for her) and gets the biggest smile on her face when she sees him after she wakes up. It amazes me to see how much they love each other being so young. Just the other day, Shae fell asleep in the car. I parked and just let him sleep but brought Belén up front to feed her. The first thing Shae said when he woke up was, "Mom! Where Belén?!"
She seems to be a big fan of food (what baby isn't?). We're pretty much at a point where we give her most things that we eat at meal times. She seems to like just about everything that we have given her thus far. She devours chicken. She loves to suck on broccoli. She really liked the peanut butter on toast we gave her last week. She doesn't seem to be that big a fan of banana. She'll nibble on it for a second but then doesn't touch it again. It gets slimy so quickly. We gave her some enchilada a couple weeks ago and she seemed to like it at first but then some of the spice kicked in and she made it known.
She nurses about five times a day and twice at night. (Give or take).
The debate of the hair color...well, you decide. Strawberry blonde? Auburn?
She finally seems to have plateaued in the growing department. She's been able to wear 9 month clothes for a few months now and is just starting to wear some 12 month outfits (even though they are still a bit big). It's been nice to be able to use clothes for more than two weeks before moving on to something bigger.
Usually takes two naps a day. One around 9 that usually lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. Second one around 1 p.m. and lasts 2-3 hours. She's usually ready to go down for the night anywhere between 6-7 p.m. Wakes up around 7 a.m. Nurses around 10:30 p.m. and 3 a.m.
Remember Shae's snow suit? We found one at the thrift store and thought, what the heck, let's give it a try. Shae's snow suit (or sleep suit as we called it) really did the trick to help him stay asleep through the night. I really helped that it would do the same for Belén. She isn't sleeping through night fully, but she is now only waking up once after I go to bed (most nights) rather than every two hours, so we'll call it a win. (Shae was also 10 months when we started putting him in the suit...). So, while it hasn't helped her sleep through the night, I still like knowing that she is nice and warm and cozy and that her little head won't freeze during the night.
She does still like to sleep with her hands over her face. She wakes up looking like she's been in a fight.
Sitting has made shopping so much easier. Score! No more massive car seat taking up the entire cart. I have been waiting for this day. She's a fan.
Happy 7 months of life little miss!
