You've Had a Birthday Shout HURRAY

Darin's birthday was two weeks ago. We figured we should go all out since he was celebrating his last year in his 20s. So naturally we bought him a box of cereal for breakfast. Doesn't take much to be considered "going all out" these days. We were at least thoughtful enough to buy a "good" cereal. Darin wakes up at 6:30 a.m. to catch the 7:15 a.m. bus. I think he understood when he pulled the Reese's Puffs out of the gift bag his birthday morning rather than a stuffed omelette with caramelized onion and goat cheese. We have a mutual understanding that food is great, but sleep is better. Shae wasn't waking up at 6 a.m. two weeks ago like he is today, so he had his cereal after daddy had already left for school. He took one bite and said, "Yum! Candy!"

After Darin got out of class that evening, we dropped Shae off with a friend and went out for some Thai. We branched out from our normal order of Pad Thai and Green Curry and ordered something new (Rather, we ordered something new along with our normal Thai favorites), Rad Nah. We will definitely be getting that again. It was great. Had a quick family brownie together before putting the kids down. Shae wouldn't let us forget that part of the birthday.

We really celebrated his birthday that Saturday with a BBQ, cheesecake, football (apparently BYU missed the "happy" birthday memo), and friends.

In honor of his birthday, here's some old pictures that I found on his phone and some daddy-son dates with Shae because they need to be documented :).

Darin took Shae out one Saturday morning to let me and B rest peacefully. He took him out for a good ol' fashioned healthy breakfast at McDonalds. Then they went to the llama story time at the library.

Chillin' with Fla-la

Last Saturday I was a bit under the weather. We had signed up to clean the church but I really needed to rest. Darin was a sweetheart and took Shae as his cleaning buddy. After the church they went to the open house at the Fire Station.

Doing the obstacle course.

More love with Sparky. Apparently he wasn't as scared this time around. When we went to an open house in Williamsburg he was pretty scared of him.

Putting out a fire. He has been talking about this part ever since Saturday.

With daddy riding around in the fire truck.  Sounds like it was a great open house!

And finally, this is where Darin studies, in case anyone was wondering. Nice and cozy, and apparently freezing cold every. single. day.

And that my friends is my super thoughtful birthday tribute to my love. I'll be back next year.
