6 Months

Baby Girl is 6 months.

Where has the time gone? Half a year. Done.

'

Weight: 17 lbs (65th percentile)

Height: 27.5 inches (90th percentile)

Shae was 19 lbs and 27 in. at 6 months, for my own comparison. We were smack dab in the middle of a move at 6 months for Belén, so I don't have any numbers for her, but I can confidently say that she was quite a bit bigger.

She seems to be enjoying her thumb more and more. We keep trying to push the pacifier on her because that will be easier to take away someday, but she still won't have it.
Sweet little sleeper after an insanely long eye appointment with mom (2 hours!) She sleeps like a champ in her crib, but outside of that is iffy. I was counting my blessings that she finally fell asleep in her car seat this day, and even let me transfer her to the van and drive to pick up the kids from school all while sleeping.
Emmy is just barely starting to show interest in food. We've started sitting her in her high chair with us for dinner (if she's awake) and will usually give her something to gnaw on. Avocado was her very first bite of "real" food. She's had some roasted butternut squash, apple sauce, steamed cauliflower and carrot, green pepper, tomato, pizza crust, and she has sucked on some oranges in her mesh food holder. Not sure that much (if any) has made it's way down, but it's been fun to watch her reactions as she sticks something in her mouth and sucks on it a bit.

She can ALMOST sit on her own. I love this milestone so much because it means she can sit in a shopping cart which makes shopping so much easier. I was able to strap her in to this one tight enough that she sort of sat, but every minute or so she would start to lean over and I'd have to sit her back up.
She's always on the search for my mouth while nursing and loves it when I nibble on her fingers.
She has a blowout at just about every other poo. I don't know what it is, but we just can't get it to stay in the diaper. The second we hear her grunting we run over to her to change her quick in hopes that the below doesn't happen, but sometimes it just doesn't seem to matter how fast we are.
Tried to go on a beautiful 2 mile trail with her one day. I shouldn't say try, because we did, but she cried just about the entire last mile of the trail back to our car. She just doesn't like being strapped down for too long. One mile was fine, two? No way.
She looooves her goofy older siblings so much. She seems a lot less content to hang out on the floor now that they are gone to school. All the excitement is gone!

                                                        Baby's first pumpkin patch.

                                                                    No sign of teeth yet.

We transitioned her from her Love to Dream swaddle to a sleep sack so that she could have her arms out and free. We have found her on her belly a few times, but she still seems to prefer sleeping on her back or side.

She usually wakes up twice in the night, often between 12-1 a.m. and 4-5 a.m. REALLY wanting to get that down to one waking, but she's fighting it. I've started to let her cry a bit longer before going in to feed her to try and help her put herself back to sleep. It's worked a few times. She's usually up for the day by 7-7:30 a.m. and then takes 2 hour or more naps in the morning/afternoon and a baby nap in the early evening. She goes down between 7-8 p.m.

She's so content and happy and brightens our lives to the max.

September Little Things

Belén and I had a nice September date. We walked around Cornell's arboretum, fed some old bread to the fish, ate donuts at the lookout, and played princesses.

We went apple picking for the first time at Indian Creek Farm and it was so lovely.
Poor baby, going along with everything, even the big kid bums in her face :).

Picture for the memories...the phase of life where we all wore masks, and my postpartum baby hairs started to grow back after a long few months of insane hair loss.

Hanging out outside of the downtown library after a quick book pick up, with a dead van battery, in the 15 minute parking no less--which made me nervous to leave the car and walk around with the kids while waiting for Darin to finish a presentation and come to our rescue. (Needless to say that my plans of surprising him with lunch as a congrats for being done with this big presentation were spoiled).

Sadly, this was our second dead battery to replace within a month! The Camry battery died on me at work one evening a few weeks previous. (Loving that quote).
I love Emmy's little crossed feet while she kindly slept as we waited.

From one adorable sleeping bebe to another.

Final warm summer beach day of the year, although Belén continues to ask anytime we go somewhere with a body of water, "Did you bring my swimsuit!?" Even when it is 50 degrees outside. Belén was also very proud of this rock castle that she made.
Sister sweetness.
We never got around to going camping this year (baby? covid?), but the kids reeeeaalllly wanted a camping experience. The weekend before school started we put up the tent, played games, ate hot dogs and smores, and Darin slept outside with the kids. Poor guys got a little wet in the middle of the night due to rain and small rain fly...but they still loved it.

First time making homemade salsa, and first time Belén actually ever liked salsa.
Celebrating this girl's "happy half birthday," as she calls it. "Is it my happy half birthday yet?!"
Finally watched a beautiful sunset by the lake after a picnic dinner. I had been wanting to do this all summer, but we decided to wait until the sun went down a little earlier.

Playing at the Children's Garden.

First day of virtual school for me and the kids.

School picture complete with my backpack, er diaper bag :).
