February Little Things

Shae started indoor soccer, which he LOVED. He got in about 5 classes before the rest of the season was cancelled due to the Coronavirus. He was pretty sad, but has handled it like a champ and we're grateful that he got a little taste of a structured soccer activity since he has been asking for so long to do it.

I think I said back in my December post that it had been a few months since Shae slept walk, but according to this picture, I was wrong. I do remember this happening actually because it was the night that Darin and his sister were gone at the Duke basketball game. In my big ol' pregnant state I managed to get him back up on the top bunk all by myself...mostly shoving his sleepy self to climb the latter and not fall backwards on me.
We loved our quick visit with Aunt Amelia. Such a treat to have her here, and an extra treat to celebrate her birthday.
Sounds like they had a fun time at the Syracuse vs. Duke game.

We have been watching Master Chef junior and for one of their challenges the kids went head to head to see who could make the most pancakes. Belén is always begging to cook like they are on the show and do their challenges and this seemed like an easy one that we could actually try out.

 More snow days for us!
Darin helped the kids build a fort.

Sweet Belén is always asking to go outside and play in the snow WITH someone. It's not my favorite, but this day was totally worth it. She was just SO excited to be building a snowman together and that she got to show off their fort to me.

Shae sat watching this marble thing for so long last time we were at the Science Center.
She always makes friends right as we are about to leave...
Seriously though, her cuteness as she acts out these stories. Every time I walk past the playroom or her bedroom she is wearing a different outfit as she goes along with the story (which has led to many a discussion about putting clothes back in drawers when we change and many a battle over cleaning up the bedroom floor).
We went down to my parents for a quick weekend trip to grab some baby clothes boxes. It wouldn't be a trip to my parents without a backyard bonfire.

Being at their house is also always a good excuse to go to Duck Donuts.

Two hours of stake conference meant that mama had to get up and walk around every half an hour or so to stay semi-comfortable. Belén was more than willing to accompany me through my walks in the hallway.
Rockin' the compression sock at church look. Anything I can do to help those dang varicose veins that have completely taken over my left leg.
One of Belén's favorite things about grandma's house is doing crafts with her.
Celebrated all the February/March birthdays. Shae turning 7, Belén turning 5, and Philip's last year in his 20s.
A few weeks before going to my parents we found an amazing groupon deal for Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos. It seemed like the perfect last family of 4 excursion (family baby-moon!) before the baby came and was right in between our house and my parents. We planned our trip for Darin's winter break so that he wouldn't miss teaching his class. We just went for one night, but we got their early enough on Monday that we enjoyed the water park for quite a few hours that day and then a lot more the next day before taking off to go home.
Coming out of the Coyote Canyon water slide. She was not really a fan.

We didn't want to spend all the monies eating at the lodge, so we ventured out to dinner and found a little brewery where kids ate free and they even had games to play at the tables while we waited for the food. The food was really yummy, except the kids made it known that they MUCH prefer my spaghetti sauce to the restaurant's :).

We made it back in time to get in to jammies and then go to the lodge for the nightly storytime. We thought the kids would crash hard that night after playing so long in the water but man did it take forever to get them to sleep in one bed with all of us in the same room.

We finally put them in separate beds and said we would move them together later. And finally they slept. Well, this cute little wolf did at least.
Belén was a little hesitant at first to do the lilly pads, but she totally rocked it.

Shae was in full on America Ninja Warrior mode.

The timing for me to be at a water park obviously wasn't ideal, but I still enjoyed the wave pool and hot tub (kid hot tub that wasn't overly hot). Darin was amazing and spent hours playing with them so that I could relax and read a book and really enjoy a break.

The kids easily could have stayed in the wave pool the entire day. They loved it.
