Sometimes she adds clothes on top of her pajamas after we put her to bed.
We saw Aladdin in 3D and loved it! Not the 3D part (it was the only showing in English), but we loved the movie.
After the movie we grabbed some pizza. I love that it is 6 p.m. and the place is completely empty, because 6 p.m. is not a meal time here. Come here at 9 p.m. and the place will be packed.
The kids prefer the single seats on the bus these days.
Transportation/Things That Go week was a fun one. We used a bunch of recyclables we'd been saving to make boats one day and then decided to take them out to the pool to see if they could float.
That is as far as they got in the water, the water is just TOO COLD.
Another fun little game we did with the cars. Gave each car a number and rolled the dice to see which one would get to move forward.
The kids have been talking so much lately about what they want to be when they grow up. They have spent a lot of time coming up with an elaborate plan for a school they want to build when they are adults. They have asked family and friends to be a part of the school. Here is a list of the things that Belen would like to be when she grows up:
Darin somehow managed to find donuts down here for National Donut Day. They were not the best, but still fun to try.
Our friend Jose, who is in Darin's same program at school is from Paraguay. He is living here for a year with his wife and their son. We're so lucky to be here at the same time as them! His wife, Clari, invited us over to her parent's house to have lunch and play one Saturday. Before going to her parents house, they took us to a fun little park.
You can see more of the river flooding here. Those lights are for the volleyball court that used to be there.
Shae was so brave, asking these boys if he could play soccer with them.
We had a lovely lunch at Clari's parents house. They were so sweet to us and sent us home with a delicious jar of honey from the Chaco region.
The kids have been working on playing Families Can Be Together Forever with bells in primary. It's pretty cute.
We were invited to a dessert night at our friend's home. Their daughter put on a little harp performance for everyone.
Beyblades at Burger King.
Letter week! We put up a few letters each day and played some different games with them throughout the week. Here the kids are trying to hit the letter name or sound that I make.
The grocery cart situation here. I just don't get it. People put their food on the conveyor belt and then push the cart out backwards, behind them and leave them there. It is madness trying to get through here and get in line during the busier times of the day.
Jose and Clari were so sweet to come over and watch our kids so that we could go on a little anniversary date--two days late! Ha! We are getting old. Neither of us realized that it was our actual anniversary on Sunday, the 9th. On Monday the 10th I realized what the date was. I had just assumed that Tuesday, the day Darin set up the date for, was our anniversary and never actually looked at the dates. Darin got the 2011 in our anniversary mixed with the date, so we ended up going out on the 11th, and just pretended it was our real anniversary anyways. It was pretty funny when we realized it and were both like, "Wait, when were we married? What IS our anniversary?" Why is it so much harder to remember than a birthday?
This kid looks forward to the Art for Kid Hub art challenge every single week.
Such a sweet moment walking behind these two holding hands, talking about Pokemon Halloween costumes for the future.
The kids have made friends with this sweet older man at the grocery store. While I check out, they always go over and play little hand games with him.
Haircut date with dad!
Shae must have had Darin's phone while Darin was getting his hair cut...
Boredom turned into imaginary playroom creating.
Went to the zoo one Saturday with our friends Alia and David (who did a year law school at Cornell). Shae was amazed by all the ant hills.
We loved celebrating Darin on Father's Day. We got him a treat and a sweat band (so that he doesn't use Belen's hairbands anymore when he works out :).
It was such a nice, relaxing Sunday at home. We played lots of fun games and ate a super yummy banana bread crumble cake. Darin and Shae had a funny moment while playing Old Maid where the Old Maid card kept getting passed back and forth, back and forth and we thought the game would never end.
She wins Uno just about every single time we play.
Playing invisible ball baseball while waiting for the bus.
This is not an uncommon sight down here.
Matchbox cars and playgrounds is kind of our jam these days.
These guys have gotten pretty good at entertaining themselves while we wait for buses.
Jose and Clari's little boy turned 2 last month. We had a lot of fun at his birthday party.
Who needs a Barbie car when you've got tennis shoes!
Sometimes as we are walking they ask me to take their pictures in front of random things. I just roll with it.
Finishing a concert they were putting on for me in this cute pose.
