Time to catch up!
Right around the time that I last posted was when I started a long-term sub job at the ESL school. It consumed me. Lesson planning! How do teachers do it!? So much work. You full time teachers are AMAZING.
We were also gone for 2 weeks at the end of May which made things busy. June was filled with more teaching, which I loved, but again, lesson planning! And then we went to Boston the first week of July. Of course on top of all those big things there's the normal life things that take up all the other time. Sorry you have been so neglected dear blog.
Let's start back up with Shae's first year of t-ball!
Oh, it was just the greatest thing. My mom dreams were coming true watching him play. His excitement was contagious. He loved it so much. Darin and I were so proud of how hard he worked each practice/game. He was easily the most focused of the kids on his team. Of course he still had his distracted picking dandelion moments too, but he took the game seriously. He kept score in his head the entire game. Each inning he would jump off the bench and run out to the coach and yell, "Where do you want me coach?" He was such a good teammate, cheering for the other players, and giving them high fives (well, he tried too, a lot of times the boys just looked at him like "what are you doing?")
Darin has been encouraging him to bat from both sides and he's surprisingly really good hitting as a leftie!
One of my favorite Shae quotes from a game was when he was running out to the field without his glove to play 1st base and he turns and looks at us and says, "Wait, do I need my glove to play 1st base?"
Another funny moment was when he was on 3rd base and the 3rd baseman was also on 3rd base. The kid kept trying to push Shae off the bag saying, "This is where I'm supposed to stand." Shae just stood there like a stone wall, not wanting to leave his base. When the kid finally complained to his coach the coach hollered at him to get off the base as that is not where he was supposed to be playing.
Excited for this girl to play t-ball in a few years. She had fun practicing with Shae and cheering him on during his games.
Always with that tongue hanging out...
