This Is Halloween...Halloween...Halloween

We didn't do a hayride this year, or even go to a pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins (I bought them at Aldi. Shae actually did pick a small one out from his first ever field trip to a farm this month). There was a lot going on this October with us getting ready to move, and while my head was thinking about a million other things that had nothing to do with Halloween, we still tried to do a few fun Halloween activities. I even let the kids hang up some Halloween pictures and a Halloween banner knowing that it would only be up for a few days before it all needed to come back down. One thing we couldn't skip was carving pumpkins.
Shae has never been the biggest fan of gutting the pumpkins. He is definitely my son.

Belén on the other hand was all up in that gunk. She loved playing with it.

They (ahem, we) carved Rapunzel and Zubat (pokemon).
They have been so excited to light them these past few days before Halloween.
There are SO many trick-or-treating events in Ithaca. We've always loved the trick-or-treating at the Commons the Friday before Halloween, so we stuck with that. Belén got to hold her best friend's, Kylo Ren's, hand just about the entire time and couldn't have been happier. She wore what she calls her Little Mermaid dress for the first dress up excursion.

The next day we went to our church Trunk or Treat, which was rainy again this year and ended up just being hallway trick-or-treating instead. Belén went with the Belle dress for this one, and Darth Vader, obviously.
And then we have Darth Vader's side-kick.
 A.k.a. Coolest Dad Around
I just threw on my butterfly wings and antenna from last years Bug Squad costumes because like I said, my brain has been elsewhere.

Shae was so excited to do this game until he actually tried it and then couldn't go on because, "It's so sticky!"

Walking across the stage in the costume parade.

Hangin' with his good friend Little Bo Peep.
Her besties. These three are all just about the exact same age and they are the sweetest little playmates. We sure will miss them.

She chose Belle again for her school Halloween party.
The kids all got to walk around the different classes of the vocational school to get candy, or hair things from the Cosmetology school, string cheese from the Culinary school, etc.

 Love watching her grow up.

After Belén's party we went over to Shae's school for their Halloween parade. They do not celebrate Halloween during school, but for anyone interested, they could go back to school after it was over for the parade. Shae decided to be Batman for this one (all of these costumes we got on super discount after Halloween last year).
Holding hands in the parade with one of his school buddies. Oh please stay young and innocent forever.
We made our annual mummy dogs for dinner before trick-or-treating. But this year there were some skeleton, bat, and ghost dogs as well.

Even though we had been trying all afternoon to convince Belén to wear her Batgirl outfit so that she could match her brother, she kept saying that she wanted to be Belle, until RIGHT before we were leaving and then, of course, she changed her mind. Our little Batkids.

Trick-or-treating was fun. We even scored a couple full sized candy bars this year.
Has anyone tried these new Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups? Reese's are one of my favorite candies (obvs, PEANUT BUTTER), so I felt like I was betraying my candy-love when I started to fall for these Butterfinger cups. But, alas, in the side by side comparison, Reese's still has my heart (although you really should try the Butterfinger cups if you haven't, they are super yummy).
