10 Months

10 months and staying still for about .5 seconds at a time.

Weight: 17 lbs. 14 oz (28%ile)
Height: 29.25 (92%ile)

I haven't seen her do this as much recently, but at the beginning of the month she was always pushing herself up on her toes like this.
Her favorite thing in the bath tub is the lever, which is pretty frustrating because it means her entire bath consists of her swatting at it until it goes down which unplugs the water and then Darin or I plugging it back up until it happens again.
Shae is good at distracting her from the shiny circle :).
Emmy has really started to like scrambled eggs this month, which is nice because after not gaining too much weight from her 6 month to 9 month appointments, the doctor encouraged us to try to give her more protein heavy foods. She has also taken a liking to beans, and sucking on mango:
The "I just sucked on a lime" face.
Weekend hang out with the cuz.

Enjoying pizza movie night with the gang.
She enjoyed chasing after the balloons on the floor for Shae's birthday.
Discovering and eating the streamers hanging from Shae's room.
Ever the curious one.

Not a fan of having bows put on her head.
Much happier after yanking it down.

The most noteworthy/scary thing that happened this month was that she had a fall and had to go to the ER, which then turned into a transfer in an ambulance and an overnight stay at the children's hospital in Syracuse. After the fall she curled up and cried for a long time. She seemed to be in pain when shifted which made us really nervous. We took her to the pediatrician and they did an external exam and then sent us to the ER for internal imaging.

It was so heart-breaking to watch her go through it. She was screaming as they did this chest x-ray where they had to put her on a bike seat, pull her arms up and shut her in a plastic tube.
Here she is getting the cat scan. Oh my heart.
So much waiting and rocking and holding for me that day. It was pretty exhausting, but seeing her little smiles come back and knowing that she was getting back to normal was so comforting.

They ended up finding what they thought was a contusion on her lung, possibly from ribs knocking in to it on the fall. They wanted to watch her breathing and make sure it wouldn't cause her any trouble, so they had us go up to the children's hospital in Syracuse for monitoring.

We got there around 8 p.m., but were not actually admitted to a room until almost 2 a.m. We hung out in a very uncomfortable ER room, right next to the super loud nurses desk. This part of the experience was really hard for me, I was just so tired after the long day and confused as to what was going on and why I wasn't being put in a room with a crib. My arms were tired and my poor baby was restless. I had to tell the story of what happened to about 12 different people (after having already told the story to 12 different people in Ithaca). I felt like I was getting different information from everyone. At midnight, a doctor came in and told me that since she was acting mostly normal, they might just have us go home and I was like, WHAT? I didn't have a car with me since we were sent in an ambulance thinking we'd be staying the night, and it was MIDNIGHT. I called Darin to see who we could have come stay with the big kids while he drove the hour to come get us. Not too long after I was told they would admit us so that they could monitor her through the night.
I was so happy to finally have a place to put her down.
We were discharged the next morning, Darin came up and grabbed us. In the end they told us that it seemed like it probably wasn't a contusion after all and could have been some mucus that the X-ray showed, or just a random spot that wouldn't show up if another was taken.
I was quite paranoid about her health and lung for a few days, especially since after a few days she broke out in a fever of 104. I took her back to the pediatrician b/c I was so nervous about something being wrong. They said it seemed to be unrelated. Two days later she broke out in a bad rash, indicating roseola, a virus she likely picked up at the hospital. It was a rough week (on Shae's birthday no less), but we somehow got through and are so so grateful that she is back to herself.

Let the bow search begin.
