May Little Things

Some Sonic the Hedgehog art.

The crazy intense 1.5 week postpartum hike that had me questioning all of my decisions in life. It had a beautiful ending.

Meeting grandpa for the first time a few weeks after birth.
Belén sharing her very first solo authored chapter book with grandma.
Nice walk at Six Mile Creek.

I went to check on the kids one night before going to bed and Belén was no longer in her bed! Took me a second of confusion to find her up on the top bunk with her brother.
Took advantage of the grandparents being in town to grab some Korean bulgogi and eat in the car, at the park, in front of the lake. It was raining or else we would have sat outside...
...and would have avoided this embarrassing situation of our car not starting after sitting in it to eat with the heat on. Luckily, we weren't the only fools enjoying the lake from the car (thank you rain and Covid) and someone right next to us was getting jumped. We hopped out and asked if they wouldn't mind doing us next.
Shae's school made a sweet slide show for the teachers.
Sleepy babies.

Our amazing family wii bowling scores.
Sweet Mother's Day cards from these awesome kids.

Grandma taught the kids some El Greco style art, which is what Shae made for me.
Darin knows my love language...steak!

He also made a super yummy Red Velvet Cake Roll.
Our first social gathering since my baby shower back in mid March. A small outdoor birthday party for one of Belén's friends.

Tummy time!
Finding a note and money from the tooth fairy. Shae has now lost 6 teeth.
Minute to Win It FHE game.

Belén's monthy blog selfie.
Fillmore Glen Hike. May was such a wonderful month because the weather finally warmed up (not until about half way through the month though!) and we could get outside. It's been a long winter!
Letting the baby eat and stretch at the top of the hike.

These words are uttered on every hike we go on, usually more than once: "I will be the princess. Mom you are the queen. Dad you are the king. Shae you are the Knight." I love her.

This is the heart rock that he found on this hike, and then left at the heart wall when we went on that hike. Good thing he has an awesome mom who carried it in the diaper bag for him.
How will we ever be able to leave this beautiful town?
(Mid May and there are still so many naked trees!)

Science Experiment. Vegetable oil + water + food coloring drops + Alka seltzer tablet = SUPER COOL.

Final play date with this friend before she moved. May is always a really sad month for us with so many Cornell friends leaving each year.
Sweet sleeper after our neighborhood walk.
Shae's teacher suggested we check out this trail that led to a really cool heart rock wall and the perfect little swimming hole.

We had no bathing suits or towels. Belen's shirt had gotten really wet before she finally decided to strip down. She was so cold after swimming so she got to wear the nursing cover home. Glad to see that it finally got some use. (I hated using a nursing cover with my other two and thus far have been more fearless in my public nursing and haven't used it which has made it so much easier).
We thought our van was going to be delivered to us, but because of Covid, they weren't able to. So we headed back up to Rochester 2 weeks after we were up there looking and decided to make a fun adventure out of it by getting Dinosaur Barbeque and having a picnic at the park. I can see why everyone raves about Dinos!

The kids were big fans of the ribs.
Struggling some days with a bit of postpartum depression and reading this on the wall at the physical therapist's office really seemed to speak to me.
 Daddy's little work buddy.
Exploring the 6 story tree house outside of the Museum of the Earth.
