Miss Emmy Em at 2 months:

Height: 23.4 inches 85th percentile
Head: 39.6 cm 85th percentile
Let the month to month comparison begin!
Looking over my notes about Emery, and it's a lot of juicy notes about bodily function this month. You have been warned.
-She had her very first blowout (we made it a month, woo hoo!) It happened on our 2 hour trip up to Rochester to get our van. Her first experience in our van was on the floor being wiped down.
-Goopy eyes galore. So much yellowy goop from the jaundice. So much so that one day her eye was so goopy that she could barely open it. We did a little virtual appointment with the doctor to make sure it wasn't anything to be concerned about and were told that sometimes tear ducts get clogged and it can make for goopy eyes.
-She learned how to flatulate this month, and it happens a lot! Man are they loud and strong. It always gets the 4 of us giggling to hear it coming out of such a tiny little thing.
-She has only spit up a couple of times in her lifetime thus far. Shae rarely ever spit up and Belen was constantly spitting up. Grateful she is following her brother on this one.
-She has just started smiling here and there and it is the best!
-She only poos when she is nursing. Which can be uncomfortable for me at times as she moves her head around a bunch getting ready to release. Important to note that it is also loud and cracks us all up.
-She hates stopping while driving. I have never hated red lights so much, more than anything because she doesn't often stop as soon as you start driving again. She will often calm down just in time for the next red light. Those car seat screams are intense, very full of red faced anger.
-Emery was given a beautiful baby blessing by her daddy at 7 weeks.
-At 5 weeks we put up the crib and moved her to her own room. I felt so nervous moving her, but the grunty baby noises had been keeping me up at night for far too long. Moving her definitely helped.
-She ended up in bed with us a few mornings this past month when it seemed like it would be easier for her to sleep there than go back down in the crib.
-She isn't AS fussy in the evenings as she was, but we still have trouble predicting her needs at night. She usually goes down for the night somewhere between 8-10. She's been sleeping some longer stretches lately, going until about 3 a.m. and then will continue to sleep until 6 or 7 a.m. Sometimes she even goes back down for an hour or so after that, but it's usually noisier "I'm waking up" sleep. We did have one night where she woke up every 2 hours last week, but thankfully that hasn't been the norm. Her longest stretch of sleep thus far has been from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
-She has started to take some naps in her crib, but often times they are very short. So we still use the swing for lots of naps (and hold her when needed to get her in to a deeper sleep). She generally takes one nice long nap at some point during the day, usually late morning or early afternoon, and a bunch of smaller naps throughout the day. Her longest awake time is always in the evening, when even though she appears to be tired, often won't sleep.
-She no longer screams through bath time.
I just can't help it, gotta do another comparison from her very first bath at 1 week old to last week:
Some matchy matchy with sister.
So many snuggles.
While I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the list of "to dos" that don't seem to be getting done because I'm either nursing, or cuddling the baby to help her sleep, or giving attention to the big kids...I sure am trying to enjoy and hold on to these snuggle days as I know that they won't last long.
We just can't get enough of our Emmy girl.
