Celebrating Hermana Rangel on her birthday. We have really loved getting to know the hermanas and elders in our ward these past few months. Most Sundays we have one of the sets of missionaries over for lunch after church. The kids get so excited to sit next to them when they sit in the same bench with us at church. It has been so wonderful having these sweet people as friends.
What Sunday mornings waiting for the bus look like. With Salemma (our super close grocery store) in the background.
Doing some food painting for our food/cooking theme week.
The buses sometimes feel like roller coasters.
Trying to win this sweet kid over while his mom finished cooking. He wasn't thrilled.
Walking around the park with Mateo.
I brought a little friend with me to help teach English one Thursday night. He took his job of teaching food vocabulary very seriously.
Found this sweet little note on the board before erasing it. I later asked if it was a note for me and he said, "No mom, it was for the students."
I couldn't get Shae to shake the idea of making his own food for our food week. He's all about inventing all the things, so I gave him some parameters and let him go for it. He wrote down his own little recipe and got to work mixing carrots, pears, bananas, peas, milk, and apples together, then he put a little cracker/sugar crumble on top.
She was very excited to follow along in the food creating.
Lunch anyone?
After baking for awhile, it wasn't actually too bad. Belen had two bowls of it.
I decided to try a new recipe for food week too. These cinnamon sugar breadsticks were delish.
Shae is going through a little phase where he wants his picture taken every single night while he sleeps. I think he likes to see if he's still in the same position he fell asleep in. The last thing he says each night is, "Don't forget to take a picture of me!" I don't do it every night, but try to get one every now and again for when he asks to see them.
Bus ride with dad.
Cuidado! Careful!
Doing daddy's hair.
Shae has never been very excited about trying the monkey bars, but after watching Beastmaster on Netflix (like America Ninja Warriorish), he now has this newfound desire to climb and do all the things. I was so proud of him for finally tackling and defeating the monkey bars. It took him a few trys to get across, but when he finally did, his joy was so real. I loved seeing how he was so proud of himself.
Belen was really proud of herself for doing a Beastmaster move, climbing the tunnel to get up to the bridge.
Making our own Barbie furniture one morning.
We find a pregnant Belen just about every night and I think it's the cutest thing.
Queen Elsa is an empanada fan.
Shae and Darin got to have a really cool South American futbol experience, going to an Olympia game with some friends.
The game didn't START until 8:30, so he was done with life by the time they were on their way home.
Belen and I went and grabbed some ice cream the night the boys went to the soccer game. When we got home she was like, "What we do next on our date mom?" She wasn't very happy when she realized that she had to go to bed and that our date was not going to be nearly as long as the boy's date.
This little worm, Squirmy, became best friends with the kids one park day. Belen took about a hundred pics of him that day so that she could always remember him. It was so cute how much she loved him, even building him a little rock and stick home.
She loved him so much that she begged to go back the next day with an empty jar to bring him home. We were all pretty sad when we couldn't find him.
We had the park to ourselves as it was one of the coldest days this winter. I guess we were the only ones brave enough to handle the cold.
The Beastmaster doing his thang.
I have really enjoyed teaching English to this fine group of people.
This sweet face.
Kid Art Hub challenges are all the rage over here.
Favorite food challenge. Belen's mama cheeseburger is my favorite.
