Father's Day

Oh this daddy of ours, for sure deserves his very own blog post. He's just that great. He's definitely the glue keeping us all together during this stage of life (Read: Coronavirus with all of us at home full time and pregnancy and new baby and mood swingy mama). He has been doing WAY more than his fair share of the house work and child rearing this past year, trying to make things as easy as possible for me while getting through a tough pregnancy. A pregnancy during which, he let me sleep in every single day while getting Shae up early and on to the bus. After school was cancelled, he continued to get up with the kids and start school with them. Since having Emery, he continues to let me get all the sleep I need while taking late night shifts with her when she doesn't want to go to sleep or middle of the night consoling when she is unsettled. He finds time to go for jogs with Shae, lets Belén wrestle him on the bed until her little heart is content, and snuggles Emery when she needs help napping. He plays games with the kids that he doesn't actually enjoy all that much and lets me talk to him late at night when he'd really rather be sleeping. He puts the four of us and our unique needs way before his own--all while writing a dissertation. He's our rock and we love him to the moon and back.
Belén picked out dried mangoes for him for his Father's Day gift, but she was clearly more excited than he was and couldn't wait to ask, "Can I have some?"

We made him his favorite meal from his mission, Mexican Carne Asada Tortas.
Also, a blueberry lemon bundt cake that was slightly disappointing.

So so thankful for this supportive, loving, kind, thoughtful father.
