August Little Things

Kid Art Hub favorite book character challenge. Shae drew Annie and Jack from the Magic Tree House.
Belen drew Jonah and Abby from the Whatever After series, in the new Jack and the Beanstalk story.
The sleepwalking continues. He never remembers any of this.

Using up the rest of the paint.
 Saturday plaza exploration.

That ended with a yummy dinner at El Bolsi.
Finally tried Vori Vori, a traditional Paraguayan soup with a yummy broth, chicken, and corn meal balls.
The people next to us ordered this amazing looking Red Velvet Cake. We all wanted to try it pretty badly and boy am I glad we did. It was absolutely amazing. Good thing we discovered it our last few weeks there or else we might have been eating here way more often, it was that good.
Shae chose this yummy pudding for us to share.
Me trying to clean the balcony turned in to this.

Last week in Paraguay sleepover.
Shae lost his very first tooth the day we were leaving Paraguay. No pillow to put it under that night!
On our way to Panama!

We got to the airport around 10:30 p.m. Shae had tried to take a nap like his sister earlier in the day, but couldn't fall asleep. Poor boy was falling asleep all over the airport while waiting for things.

He crashed about 2 seconds after we got to our gate to wait for our 1 a.m. flight to board and leave.
This girl on the other hand, was wired.

 Our Panama to DC plane.
So much exhaustion going on...but thankfully we didn't have to deal with a time change on top of the lost nights sleep!
Back in the garden with grandma.

Got a, much needed, haircut. And I was actually brave enough to go short! I've been thinking about doing it for so long but chicken out every time.
Move In day. No one from our ward was able to come help (our fault for moving in in the middle of the day on a work day), so we were extremely grateful to have my dad there to help. Not sure if we could have done it without him. My mom was also wonderfully sweet to sit outside and scrub mold off of our table and chairs. Not something we had anticipated needing to do.

Morning at the Farmer's Market and picnic lunch at the park before the grandparents headed home.

   Favorite toy challenge.

Happy 32 to Me

Birthday festivities part I happened the day before my birthday, also the day before we would be leaving Paraguay. It was the perfect birthday lunch, but also felt like a huge "we made it" lunch celebration. Darin finished all his research, and me and the kids, well, we made it!

We couldn't leave Paraguay without going to one of the nice Parrilleras that they have all over town. It's a buffet style restaurant with the most amazing meat that they bring around to the tables. Ohhhh that meat was heavenly.

  This grilled cinnamon pineapple...mmmmmmmm...

Round one of dessert, since we had SO much room in our bellies after all that meat.
The restaurant and I were both born in the same year, how cute.
Darin and I were sporting pretty big food babies after we were done here.
First solo bus ride with this guy on our last full day in Paraguay.
Birthday celebration part II happened when we got to my parent's house. Shae helped put the final touches on the Snickers Cheesecake.
So glad that I got to celebrate with these guys.
I had no idea what Darin got me for my birthday, but it was heavy! I was so surprised (and excited!) to see the box set of Elephant & Piggie books! Whhhhhaaaaatttt!! I felt like a little kid, but it really truly has been a dream of mine to own this whole set (and it came with the cutest little book ends!)

And now a closer look at that cheesecake. Darin is getting good.
